FOUR teenagers have been arrested as part of an investigation into more than 50 stolen motorbikes in Glasgow.

On Friday, August 7, officers carried out a day of action and executed search warrants at four addresses in the Mansewood, Thornliebank, Pollok and Arden areas of Greater Glasgow.

During the searches, one stolen motorcycle was recovered along with various items including car keys, weapons, drugs and quantities of cash.

Four teenage males, aged 15, 17, 17, and 19, were arrested on the day and were later released pending further enquiries.

Chief inspector Allistair MacDonald said: “Recently we’ve seen an increase in this type of crime in the Greater Glasgow area and officers have been taking decisive action to address this issue.

“Out of the 58 motorcycles reported stolen over the past three months, we have managed to recover 39 of the vehicles in varying conditions.

“The day of action we carried out sends a clear message – we will not tolerate this criminality in our communities.

“Information from the public is vital and we’d continue to encourage anyone with information or concerns to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
