Four rescued from island on Firth of Forth after being cut off by the tide

Four people have been rescued after they were cut off by the tide on an island in the Firth of Forth.

Two RNLI inshore lifeboats went to the scene at Cramond Island when the alarm was raised at about 1.30pm on Wednesday, the coastguard said.

They were taken to safety at Granton Harbour in Edinburgh.

Lifeboats from South Queensferry and Kinghorn were involved in the rescue operation.

The four people were said to be safe and well, though wet up to their knees.
