We are inching closer and closer to the dead period of the NFL. Once mandatory mini-camps wrap up this week, players will be off for the next six weeks or so before they report to training camp.
That means that we are going to start getting a ton of lists and rankings to debate going into the season. The first “big” one that has been released is Pete Prisco’s top 100 players for 2022 on CBS Sports.
The Raiders had four players on the list, but one of those players was not Derek Carr. Here are the four players and Prisco’s ranking for each:
No. 11: WR Davante Adams
No. 33: EDGE Maxx Crosby
No. 55: TE Darren Waller
No. 58: EDGE Chandler Jones
Outside of Carr, the only other players that could have made a case to make the list were left tackle Kolton Miller and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. All three did make the honorable mention list for Prisco, meaning that they were close to being chosen for the top 100.
While we can debate if these players were ranked too high or too low, the takeaway from this list is that the Raiders have more top-end talent now than they’ve had at any point over the last 10 years. They have legitimately seven of the top-125 players in the NFL and arguably four of the top 60.
We know that in the NFL, stars matter. And the front office has done a great job of piling up stars for the Raiders heading into the 2022 season. Now it’s time for them to get on the field and show why the Raiders were right to invest so much into the likes of Adams, Crosby, Waller and Jones.
