KOLKATA: A van transporting construction workers was struck by a truck in West Bengal's Hooghly district on Wednesday, resulting in the death of four labourers.
The incident occurred at Kangsari More in the Gurap police station area during the morning commute of the four labourers.
A police officer reported that the truck collided with the van, causing serious injuries to the workers.
They were swiftly transported to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, where medical professionals unfortunately declared them dead.
The deceased have been identified as Jeevandeep Baul Das (26), Mangaldeep Baul Das (32), Biswajit Roy (35), and Diwakar Singh (22). All were residents of the Siyapur area in Gurap. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of their demise.
