Authorities in New York City responded to a distressing scene in the Bronx, where the deceased body of a 70-year-old woman was discovered inside a garbage bag within a luxury apartment building on Grand Concourse Avenue in Mott Haven. The victim, who hailed from Georgia, was staying with relatives in the Bronx apartment at the time of the incident.
The grim discovery was made by the victim's daughter-in-law, who is related to the victim through her mother, the tenant of record at the apartment. Upon arrival, police took four individuals into custody for questioning. While two men and two women were initially detained, three have since been released, leaving Inga Bearden, 53, facing charges of concealment of a corpse, a felony offense.
Authorities noted that there were no visible signs of physical trauma on the victim's body, and they are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. This unsettling incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic discovery in the city, where 52-year-old Nadia Vitel was found deceased and concealed inside a duffel bag in her apartment in the Kips Bay neighborhood.
