Four friends entered a Utah cave in 2005 for an adventure, but a narrow underwater passage became their deadly trap inside the now-sealed ‘Cave of Death’

What began as an early-morning adventure inside a little-known cave near Provo, Utah, ended in one of the state's most haunting underground tragedies. On August 18, 2005, four young people entered a cave on Y Mountain, expecting a short exploration. Instead, they became trapped in a narrow, water-filled passage connecting two underground chambers. Rescue workers later recovered all four bodies from the cave. The victims were J. Blake Donner, 24, of Springville; Scott K. McDonald, 28, of Provo; Jennifer Lynn Galbraith, 21, of Pleasant Grove; and Ariel Singer, 18, of Orem.

The incident quickly became known as the tragedy at the so-called "Cave of Death."
