Four dead and dozens injured after car ploughs into crowd during carnival in Belgium

At least four people have died after a car ploughed into a crowd during a carnival in Belgium.

It's also believed that 32 others were injured, 12 of them critically following the incident in Strépy-Bracquegnies, near La Louvière.

The vehicle is thought to have "accelerated" into the crowd at around 5am in the Hainaut province following "an immense noise."

According to the Mirror, Mayor Jacques Gobert told RTBF radio: "A car drove from the back at high speed.

"We have a few dozen injured and unfortunately several people who are killed."
