Four Charged With Concealing Human Corpse In Long Island

Four individuals charged with concealing a human corpse and tampering with evidence in Babylon, N.Y.

Authorities in Babylon, N.Y. have charged four individuals with concealing a human corpse and tampering with evidence following the discovery of body parts in parks on Long Island. The defendants, three residents of Amityville and one homeless individual, have not been accused of killing the victims, a 53-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman.

The unsettling chain of events began when a severed arm was found by a schoolgirl near Southards Pond Park in Babylon. Subsequent searches led to the discovery of additional body parts, which were determined to belong to the two victims. Further remains were found in West Babylon and a state park, all linked to the same individuals.

Following a search of the Amityville residence shared by three of the defendants, authorities made the arrests. Significant evidence, including weapons, blood, and video surveillance, has been cited by the Assistant District Attorney. Defense attorneys for the accused have expressed their intent to vigorously contest the charges, maintaining their clients' innocence.

The victims' identities have not been disclosed, and the defendants have pleaded not guilty to charges of hindering prosecution, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing a human corpse. They were released without bail pending further legal proceedings.
