An exciting week lies ahead for Arsenal. The Gunners will confirm the signings of Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice as Mikel Arteta prepares his squad for an exciting trip to the USA.
Prior to that though Arsenal have travelled out to Germany for a week long training camp at Adidas HQ. The players touched down in Nuremberg on Sunday night and will spend four days training out there before a friendly against FC Nurnberg on Thursday at the Max-Morlock Stadion.
It promises to be a crucial week for some of the Gunners players as they look to force their way into Arteta's plans for the coming season. Here football.london takes a look at the players for whom the next few days are going to be the most important.
Kai Havertz
After arriving for £65million from Chelsea last month, there's no doubting that Kai Havertz is a huge part of Arteta's plans going forward. With the competition for places Arsenal currently have in the midfield though, this pre-season will be vital for him.
There are plenty of question marks hanging over the German, and while he seems well placed to answer them, getting off on the right footing will be crucial. Acclimatising and getting to know his new teammates over the next few days in his home country will be important to his adaptation as well.
Fabio Vieira
After a disappointing debut season these next few weeks are huge for Fabio Vieira. The Portuguese midfielder did not really get a pre-season last time out after arriving from Porto with a fractured foot.
He's coming off an injury this time too, but after travelling out to Nuremberg with the rest of the group he'll hopefully be ok to train. The 23-year-old has plenty of people questioning him, but he'll be out to prove them wrong.
Marquinhos
The season began well for Marquinhos last time out. He scored and assisted on his first team debut in Zurich and it looked as though Arsenal had unearthed another Brazilian gem.
Since then his progress has stunted a little. He scored in the behind closed doors friendly with Watford and is likely to feature in the game against FC Nurenberg. This could be the time that he kickstarts his Arsenal career.
Takehiro Tomiyasu
By no means are there any suggestions that Takehiro Tomiyasu will leave Arsenal, but the Japan defender needs to use this next week to remind everyone of his qualities. His absence in the last few months of the season was arguably crucial in the title race collapse, but with Jurrien Timber coming in from Ajax, he has a point to prove.
Both Ben White and Timber will be competing for his preferred right-back spot, while Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney are up against him on the left. He'll be focusing primarily on getting his fitness back after a nasty injury, but this is an important time for him to show what he is capable of.
