Four people have been arrested following a knife fight in Croydon.

Police were called to the Frith Road area at 6pm on Thursday to reports that a group of young men were involved in a brawl, with a number of large knives recovered at the scene.

Officers were responding to an alert by CCTV operators who located and tracked the four men involved in the fight.

Two males, both aged 18, were arrested by officers in Duppas Hill Terrace while another two males, aged 14 and 15, were arrested in nearby Church Road.

All four were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and affray and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers recovered two machetes and a Rambo knife at the scene.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Collins, of the South Area Basic Command Unit, which covers policing for Croydon said: “This type of violent behaviour has no place on our streets and I hope the speedy and decisive action of Met officers demonstrates our commitment to tackling this.”
