Forza Horizon 6 system requirements: Minimum and recommended PC specs

Forza Horizon 6 is coming to PC soon, so Playground Games released the official system requirements and also put them on Steam.

The minimum and recommended specs are fairly forgiving for a modern open-world racing game, but the higher presets make it clear that Forza Horizon 6 is also aiming at high-end PCs. The game supports high uncapped framerates, ultrawide resoluions, ray-traced reflections and global illumination, controller and wheel support, and optimization for Steam Deck and Xbox ROG Ally.

The minimum specs target 1080p, 60 FPS at the Low graphics preset. Players need at least an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, paired with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT, or Intel Arc A380.

The game also requires 16GB RAM, an SSD, and Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer.

That is not a brutal entry point, especially on the GPU side. A GTX 1650 is old by current standards, and 16GB RAM has become the practical floor for modern PC gaming. SSDs are also practically a hard requirement to do any current day gaming.

Forza Horizon 6 recommended PC requirements

The recommended tier targets 1440p, 60-plus FPS, and the High graphics preset. For this setup, the listed CPUs are an Intel Core i5-12400F or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.

For GPU, Playground recommends an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, or Intel Arc A580. The RAM requirement stays at 16GB, and the game still requires an SSD and Windows 10 or 11 version 22H2 or newer.

This is looking like the best go-to setup for the average PC gamer, and will likely have a great balance of visuals vs. performance, and 1440p at high settings with 60-plus FPS is where Forza Horizon 6 should start looking properly sharp without demanding a monster build.

The extreme tier is for 4K, 60-plus FPS, and the Extreme graphics preset. This is where the requirements jump.

Players need an Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, with either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT. The RAM requirement increases to 24GB, and storage changes from a standard SSD to an NVMe SSD.

The OS requirement remains the same.

These are the enthusiast-grade specs, but for something that’s called “Extreme,” 4070 Ti is not that big of an ask. RAM bump is more noticeable in the current state of PC gaming.

Forza Horizon 6 extreme ray tracing requirements

The highest tier is Extreme RT, which targets 4K upscaled, 60-plus FPS, and the Extreme RT graphics preset with ray tracing enabled.

This tier uses the same listed CPUs as the standard extreme preset: Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X. The GPU requirement rises to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT.

It also requires 32GB RAM, an NVMe SSD, and Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer.

Fot this tier, you’ll need either AMD’s best, or Nvidia’s mid-to-high consumer GPU. Unlike Forza Horizon 5, which featured ray tracing only in photo mode. the sixth entry will have it everywhere, and therefore, the specs required are much higher.

Does Forza Horizon 6 require an SSD?

Yes, Forza Horizon 6 requires an SSD on PC. The minimum and recommended tiers list SSD, while the extreme and extreme ray tracing tiers list NVMe SSD.

That means players with hard-drive-only systems should plan an upgrade before launch. For an open-world racing game, this is expected, as cars move through the map quickly, and the game needs fast storage to stream world data smoothly.

Can Forza Horizon 6 run on Steam Deck?

The PC feature list includes Steam Deck and Xbox ROG Ally support. That does not automatically mean the game will be ideal on every handheld setting, but the official PC feature list does have both devices.

The minimum GPU target is low enough for the Steam Deck to manage to run it, but players should expect to use lower settings and lots of upscaling.

Forza Horizon 6 launches May 19, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PC (Microsoft Store and Steam), and Xbox Cloud Gaming, and it will be available day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Premium Edition owners get early access starting May 15. A PlayStation 5 version is planned for later in 2026.
