Forza Horizon 5: How To Perform Drift Tap Skill

Racing games like Forza Horizon love paying tributes to legends within their games. The Drift Tap skill isn’t directly a tribute, but it is a subtle nod to the legendary Ken Block. This event is more than a points earner; it is a symbol of professional precision. The Drift Tap is widely considered one of the most difficult skills to trigger intentionally, often leading to a crash right before the points register. It’s even harder if you pick the wrong car

However, once you master the timing, it becomes the quickest way to fly through milestones and earn those elusive seasonal points. It’s common for many players to make mistakes that lead to them losing their score, and that ruins your efforts. Tag along as we look into what the Drift Tap is and what are the ways of getting the perfect tap to earn those crucial points for milestones.

What Is The Drift Tap Skill?

To those of you who are not familiar, Drift Tap is basically when the rear corner of your car touches lightly against a wall mid-drift. This should come up as a skill and earn you a ton of points. It can also be done with the front end of your car. Many players end up doing it by accident while wall riding. The skill takes a good bit of control to execute.

It’s especially difficult to execute because when you hit the wall too hard, it registers as a collision or wreckage. To increase your chances of success, before attempting the skill, it is highly recommended to unlock the Extra Life perk in your car’s Car Mastery menu. This perk allows your skill chain to survive two collisions instead of one, providing a safety net if you hit the wall too hard the first time.

The Traditional Drift Tap

This method is most preferred by players who are comfortable controlling a slide. The way to perform the skill this way is to start a drift well before you reach a wall or barrier. Then, mid drift, aim to brush either the front or rear of the car against a solid wall.

If performed correctly without losing momentum, the Drift Tap skill will pop up on your UI, usually awarding around 1000 points. For the best results, use a high-powered vehicle in the S2 or X class. A 1977 Hoonigan Ford F-150 Hoonitruck is a recommended vehicle, which works well with certain tune codes.

The Wall-Ride Exploit

This is an easier method compared to the one above. It’s recommended for players who struggle to maintain a manual drift. Location plays a vital part in this method, as you must find a spot with long, smooth walls, such as a Festival Site. The process is basic; instead of worrying about a complex drift, simply drive your car into the wall at an angle while it is moving and continue to accelerate.

The friction against the wall will often trigger the Drift and Drift Tap skills simultaneously as long as the car remains in motion. The Horizon Festival Roundabout is the best spot in the game for this skill because of its continuous, curved concrete barrier. Just execute this perfectly, and you’ll earn points for your milestones most easily. It helps quite a lot in completing weekly challenges as well.
