Star Wars Day is next week and Fortnite is lining up another collaboration with the IP, but it's bringing more than just lightsabers with it this time around.
Another year, another Fortnite x Star Wars crossover, but this year's event is adding new gameplay elements in the form of the Force, on top of the skins and lightsabers we were expecting. The leaks before Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 started gave us a heads up on the collab, although it's not a total surprise.
Last year's event brought lightsabers back to the game as well as a blaster, Star Wars quests, and skins of characters from the series. The first Fornite x Star Wars crossover debuted at the tail end of 2019 to promote The Rise of Skywalker and it's been a yearly staple ever since.
In preparation for next week's collab going live, Fortnite update 24.30 has been delayed so that the new content goes live on Thursday May 4, although the update is reportedly still landing on a Tuesday, as it usually does. Here's everything we're expecting to see in the Fortnite x Star Wars crossover.
Fortnite x Star Wars: skins
The Fortnite x Star Wars crossover is bringing skins with it, and according to @ShiinaBR, we'll be getting two new skins which seem to have cosmetics included in their sets. They're codenamed CirrusVine and PlotTwist. Both sets include a skin, Back Bling, Pickaxe, Glider, and Wrap, while PlotTwist includes an emote as well.
Thanks to the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 leaks, we know (I use the term loosely) that PlotTwist is a new male skin. Speculation within the community has lead to names being thrown up for this particular skin ranging from Anakin to Palpatine – especially given the leak about Force lightning powers. Of course, it could be Cal from the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor which launches this Friday, April 28.
Fortnite x Star Wars: Force powers
Lightsabers, schmightsabers. We've been there and done that, and the E-11 Blaster Rifle is old news. The highlight of this year's Fortnite x Star Wars crossover is the leaked Force powers.
Twitter leaker @iFireMonkey claims that the crossover is introducing Star Wars Force powers into the game, including:
- Force Lift
- Force Jump
- Force Lightning
- Force Pull
- Force Push
- Force Rip
- Force Script
- Force Vacuum
This is more than just a few cosmetics and will impact gameplay fairly significantly, you'd assume. Epic is going all out this May 4, and it's great to see more than just a few aesthetic changes come to the game this year.
Fortnite Star Wars: lightsabers
Last year's Fortnite x Star Wars crossover saw iconic lightsabers from Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren, Mace Windu, and Obi-Wan, spanning green, red, blue, and purple colourways. There's only one way I can think of to expand on that, and that's if Cal is introduced into the game.
Cal's base lightsaber colours are blue, green, and orange, but as you progress in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order you gain access to even more. So a customisable lightsaber from a character with a new game launching seems like a good fit for the Fortnite x Star Wars collab. The full array of Cal's lightsaber colours are:
- Blue
- Green
- Purple
- Cyan
- Magenta
- Indigo
- Yellow
- Orange
Of course, if we don't see Cal come to Fortnite, it's more than likely that both lightsabers and blasters will make a return and that we'll see the four standard colours.
The Fortnite x Star Wars crossover is a little over a week away, so expect more leaks and titbits to drop as we get closer to May 4 and will update you right here.
