Fortnite update 24.40 is here, and through the usual suspect data miners and leakers we know a new Spider-Man crossover is on its way soon.
So far we've had Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, and Tom Holland's Spider-Man join the ranks in Fortnite, and now, two more spidey skins are set to drop in game very soon according to leaks. Joining the recent slew of crossover content – including the Find the Force event, Star Wars lightsabers, and Attack On Titan's Thunder Spear and ODM Gear Mythics – is the return of the Spider-Man Web Shooter Mythic with the brand new Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse crossover set to arrive in-game (via @ShiinaBR on Twitter).
However, while a lot of players expected the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse crossover to appear alongside Fortnite Ranked in Fortnite update 24.40, the patch came and went without any Spider-Man content in sight. Considering the film doesn't release until Friday, June 2 we'd expect it to show up somewhere between now and then.
With Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 ending on Friday, June 9, it's safe to assume it'll be sooner rather than later.
Fortnite x Spider-Verse: Web Shooter Mythic
The Spider-Man Web Shooter first made its debut in Fortnite back in December 2021 when Spider-Man was included in the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 Battle Pass to commemorate the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home. It made its return as the more generic Grapple Glove during Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3, but now it's once again going to get that spidey flavour with the latest crossover.
During the Web Shooters' first run back in Chapter 3 Season 1 you could only obtain the item from opening backpacks near spider webs across the map. Since all of our info comes from leaks so far, it's unknown how you'll be able to get the Mythic item this time around – be it more backpacks, or if the item will go into normal rotation.
Fortnite x Spider-Verse: skins and cosmetics
Thanks to Fortnite leaker @ShiinaBR we know that some new skins included in Fortnite update 24.40 files include Spider-Man and uhh... Spider-Man (Miles Morales and Miguel O'Hara). @ShiinaBR has also posted a video on their YouTube channel showing what all of the new content looks like in-game.
First off, don't worry – Epic Games has decided to make the multiple spider situation a bit less confusing by naming the Miles Morales skin Spider-Man (Earth 1610), alongside a maskless style featuring his design from Across the Spider-Verse. Meanwhile Miguel O'Hara's skin is Spider-Man 2099, once again based on the upcoming film.
Other items coming to the game as a part of the Fortnite x Spider-Verse crossover include an emote in which beloved mascot character – Peter Porker himself – Spider-Ham, offers your playable character an oversized cartoon mallet. Both Miguel and Miles get their own unique Back Blings featuring Spider-Man 2099's web cape and a Spider-Verse Portal respectively.
@ShiinaBR also revealed a leaked loading screen featuring the characters swinging through Mega City (which you can see at the top of this article). No sign of Sunflower as a lobby theme though, sadly.
