Epic Games has officially confirmed a crossover between "Fortnite" and "Five Nights at Freddy's," a pairing fans have requested for years. The collaboration brings a famously creepy pizzeria and its animatronic cast into the battle royale.
'Fortnite' Confirms 'Five Nights at Freddy's'
The official "Fortnite" account confirmed the collaboration, ending years of rumors and speculation. Fans first started pushing for a "Five Nights at Freddy's" tie-in around 2023, when the Blumhouse movie arrived, and a teaser image for the Halloween event appeared to hint at it.
Speculation flared again in 2024, but that August the franchise announced a partnership with "Dead by Daylight" instead, leaving "Fortnite" players waiting.
The speculation picked up again this August, when the official "Five Nights at Freddy's" account posted a teaser image that strongly suggested a collaboration was in the works. Around the same time, players noticed a building under construction on the current map that looks a lot like Freddy Fazbear's pizzeria from the movie.
Even before the official confirmation, leaker SamLeakss said the collaboration was fully confirmed for Halloween, while also sharing details about related quests coming to "Rocket League."
The crossover arrives in the middle of a season already packed with collaborations. Chapter 7 Season 4, called Override, has brought outfits and items from "Kingdom Hearts," "Mega Man," "Persona 5 Royal," "Crash Bandicoot," and "Spyro the Dragon," among others.

A list has not been shared yet, but leaks and reports point to a set of animatronic skins. Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, and other animatronics from the pizzeria are the names most commonly expected and could arrive alongside cosmetics and a themed location on the map.
According to GameRant, some leaks also mention characters such as Vanny, Roxy, and Gregory, though none of those names have been confirmed by Epic Games. An in-game point of interest based on the pizzeria is also expected, based on what has already been found in the game.
This would not be the first time "Fortnite" has flirted with the series.
In 2023, the game released the Danger Dux bundle, which some fans viewed as its own version of a "Five Nights at Freddy's" tribute while the real collaboration remained out of reach.
Horror collaborations are a "Fortnitemares" tradition, with past Halloween events bringing in franchises like "Saw," "Halloween," and "Friday the 13th." Reports say this year's event should include quests, map changes, new items, skins, and bosses.
Returning weapons like the witch broom, chainsaw, and wood stake shotgun are also expected, along with the Last Call weapon from "Scream," which arms players with a knife and cell phone to mark enemies.
When Is 'Five Nights at Freddy's' Coming?
The collaboration is expected to land during "Fortnitemares," the game's annual Halloween event, which typically runs for around three weeks. Reports have suggested an update as early as October 1 could bring the collaboration content into the game, though an exact date has not been detailed in reports so far.
That season is expected to wrap up with a mini season beginning November 1, so any collaboration content added in October could stay through the rest of the season. Players can already see the pizzeria taking shape on the map while they wait.
The franchise itself began in 2014 as a simple point-and-click horror game from creator Scott Cawthon and has grown into nine mainline games plus a long list of spin-offs. The 2023 Blumhouse movie broke box office records and led to a sequel.
