Fortnitemares 2022 is underway and one of the biggest features is the new Howler Claws. These wolf-themed items are powerful melee weapons with several different abilities, the most useful of which is Wolfscent. However, it can be tricky to use effectively, and even getting your hands on the weapon in the first place requires a bit of know-how. We’ll explain how to obtain this Mythic weapon, and how to make the most out of its abilities.
Fortnite Howler Claws locations
First things first, you need to find an Alteration Altar. These are scattered all over the map, but the easiest place to find one is at the Reality Tree. Once you’re standing on one, you’ll be able to perform the “Ritual” emote, it takes a little while to pull off, but once you do it you’ll have the Howler Claws in your possession and you can start to wreak havoc.
How to use the Wolfscent ability - Fortnite
Wolfscent is an extremely powerful ability, and the first set of Fortnitemares quests requires you to get kills with it active. First, it needs to charge up, which you can track with a bar on the left side of your screen that slowly fills up, once it’s full, a button prompt will appear next to the bar. When you activate it, it’ll let you track nearby opponents with violet scent effects. It doesn’t last forever though, so make sure you only activate it when you’re about to get into a fight in order to complete the challenge.
How to use the Slash and Air Slash abilities - Fortnite
The weapon also comes with some powerful attacks. The regular Slash ability is a powerful four-hit melee combo that does loads of damage. The Air Slash is done by attacking in the air, it acts as a small double jump, making it great for movement, but it also does damage to anyone nearby when you land too.
