Fortnite players can cosplay as their favourite Avatar: The Last Airbender characters thanks to the latest update to the online game.
Epic released the v29.20 update yesterday (April 9) after taking Fortnite down for maintenance for a couple of hours.
Read on to find out all the new additions to the game and the release date of the first Avatar pass.
Fortnite update 29.20 patch notes
Here’s all the new stuff available in Fortnite, including new skins and items in the Fortnite Shop, a new season of Rocket Racing, bug fixes and more.
Battle Royale items
Battle Royale, which is still the biggest draw on Fortnite, hasn’t received as many new additions this time around.
Still, fans of Avatar will lap up the three new skins now available in the Fortnite Shop. They include Zuko, Katara and Toph, and their blocky Lego versions, and cost 2,000 V-Bucks each. A separate bundle gives you Zuko and Katara, plus four mythic items (Katara’s Waterskin, Southern Water Tribe Club, Zuko’s Scabbard and Broadswords) for 3,200 V-Bucks.
There’s also still time to grab Korra by completing her quests tied to the purchasable Battle Pass.
When is the Avatar: Elements Pass release date?
That just leaves Aang, the titular Airbender, who is expected to arrive as part of the Avatar: Elements pass on April 12 at 2pm in the UK.
You’ll be able to purchase the pass as normal using V-Bucks and then unlock skins and items by completing challenges. Aang, on the other hand, will be available as soon as you buy the pass, while some items will also be doled out for free.
Battle Royale fixes and adjustments
- Fixed a bug where players could indefinitely fly with Icarus Wings.
- Fixed an issue where Battle Pass Level 200 players were unable to claim Titanflame Hades.
- Fixed a bug where hair was unintentionally visible through some Outfits’ hats & helmets.
Rocket Racing
Season 1 of Rocket Racing, the new Fortnite mode introduced last December, brings nighttime and creator-made tracks to the game.
Epic has debuted five colourful new tracks that match the season’s name (Neon Rush), including Jackrabbit, Tri-City, Conduit, Delirium, and Slap Happy.
Racers can also jump on tracks built by players using Epic’s Unreal Editor for Fortnite. The most popular race courses will be highlighted in five new rows in the track selection, or you can find a specific track with a Fortnite island code.
While creator-made tracks are currently ineligible for ranked play, Epic says that could change in the future.
Speaking of which, Neon Rush marks the start of a new ranked period. Your rank will be reset as a result, and you’ll begin at either gold, silver or another level based on your stats from the previous season. During the new run, all Epic-made Racing tracks can be played as Speed Run tracks, too.
Elsewhere, regular and ranked quests will separately include rewards like the Aetherius Wheels and Psypher Trail in a bunch of colours.
There are also new Rocket Racing items in the Fortnite Shop, among them a Werewolf car body that’s available to those who have unlocked it in Rocket League. If you don’t own that game, you can grab it by purchasing the Werewolf bundle.
In addition, a Fuse Starter Quest Pack will land in the Fortnite Shop on April 11.
There are numerous bug fixes and improvements this season, which you can view in full via the Rocket Racing blog post.
Lego Fortnite
After a major update that introduced vehicles to Lego Fortnite late last month, Epic is sticking to bug fixes in the latest patch.
They include:
- Fixed an issue where vehicles could disappear in certain circumstances
- It is now safe to transport chests on your vehicle
- Improved traction to allow vehicles to move more easily up hills
- Dynamic objects can now go through large doorways and you can now drive your car through an open garage door!
- Fixed the issue of the supply drop being empty.
- Small Jacks no longer crumble when attaching a Large Dynamic Foundation
- Wheels will now display damage numbers when attacked.
- Fixed an issue where you could not place the railing in step 6 of the Tower Manor Build.
- Fixed an issue where Sidewalk foundations were not unlocked when meeting the unlock conditions on existing worlds.
