The official Fortnite website shared new details about the upcoming Ballistic mode that features the first-ever first-person view.

The new game mode will pit teams of five players each against each other in intense shootouts. Action will unfold from a new first-person view and the mode's matches are divided into rounds that focus on planting what is called a Rift Device.

When players win rounds, they will earn currency that they can use to buy even more powerful weapons. The list of arsenal that the new game mode has includes smoke and flash grenades that enable tactical, team-based gameplay.

Fortnite's new mode is highly reminiscent of Valve's Counter-Strike 2, which could be seen as a nod by Epic Games' to the FPS franchise's major impact on the genre.

Many people expected Fortnite to add a first-person view but not in the form of a 5v5 bomb planting scenario, according to EGamers World.

Fortnite Ballistic is set to officially join the game starting on Dec. 11, 2024, and will debut alongside other game modes.

Players will then have the option to participate in both ranked and unranked matches, which will surely provide amazing experiences to both casual and competitive players.

The new mode will be a separate mode within the game, similar to OG Fortnite and many others. At the start of Fortnite Ballistic, players will only have a Ranger Pistol and 800 Credits. The latter is earned by scoring eliminations and planting the Rift Point Device.

A First-Person Perspective

When Fortnite Ballistic releases on Dec. 11, 2024, it will still be in early access and will only have one map and a limited set of weapons and items.

But the developers do plan to "make adjustments based on player feedback and add new maps, weapons, and features," Games Radar said.

The two parties of players are simply called attackers and defenders, which is probably an attempt to avoid any controversy from parents of children who play Fortnite. The game lets players plant the Rift Point Device at one of two locations.

Each round will end either when the device explodes or when a team is completely eliminated because there are no respawns. When six rounds are finished, the two sides will switch roles of attackers and defenders to see who wins a total of seven rounds first.

Some of the gadgets that players can choose from in Fortnite Ballistic include bubble shields and proximity mines. Players who survive at the end of a round can keep the stuff they have but will have to buy new items if they die, according to Game Spot.
