Fortnite Zero Build is a new mode that removes building. Yup, carpentry skills won’t do you much good — this is a pure test of combat know-how.
Think something more along the lines of Apex Legends or Call of Duty: Warzone, and that’s more-or-less Zero Build. Managing health without building is (obviously) new to Fortnite, so Epic is adding rechargeable overshields as a line of defense. Kind of like Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, only without energy swords. I can’t even joke about Master Chief not being there cause he’s literally already in Fortnite.
Zero Build is available in Fortnite via the Discover page, complete with solo, duos, and squads playlists. There’s also a launch trailer which you can watch below.
Welcome to Fortnite Zero Build.

Of course, the standard battle royale mode with building still exists in Fortnite. Zero Build isn’t a replacement, only another means of attaining those prestigious victory royales. Finally, old codgers like myself have somewhere free of people half our age constructing mansions on top of us. Thank you, Epic.
Jokes aside, Zero Build might open up a whole new competitive scene in Fortnite. People who prattle on about the game taking less skill than other battle royale titles can (potentially) prove it.
