Epic Games has officially unveiled Olivia Rodrigo’s long-rumored Fortnite collaboration, giving fans their first proper look at the pop star’s Icon Series cosmetics.
While many Fortnite players are excited to see another global music icon join the battle royale, the reveal has also sparked a wave of debate over one particular detail: whether the in-game model actually looks like Olivia Rodrigo.

The trailer shared on X showcases Rodrigo’s outfit, emotes with her hit songs, pickaxes, emotes and other styles arriving in the Item Shop. The collaboration appears to include two cosmetics inspired by the singer’s style, quickly making it one of Fortnite’s biggest music crossovers of the season.
The songs as jam tracks that come with her bundle are Drop Dead, Deja Vu, and Maggots for Brain. However, discussion around the reveal quickly shifted from the cosmetics themselves to Rodrigo’s facial likeness.
Across social media, players argued that the Icon Series skin doesn’t capture the singer’s appearance as accurately as previous celebrity collaborations. Several fans compared it to Sabrina Carpenter’s Fortnite skin, which was widely praised for closely resembling the pop star.
“I’m not even a fan of her, and I noticed her face is off,” one player wrote.
What can I do, but think of you💓

Not everyone agreed, though. Some fans defended the design, pointing out that Fortnite’s stylized art direction often results in characters looking slightly different from their real-life counterparts. Others said the cosmetics themselves, particularly the emotes inspired by her songs, backblings and alternate styles, looked great regardless of the facial model.
Olivia Rodrigo’s arrival also surprised many players, as fans had expected her to headline Fortnite Festival’s next Music Pass after the current Laufey season. Instead, Epic Games appears to be releasing her as a standalone collaboration, leaving many wondering who will front the next Festival season.
The debate is far from unusual for Fortnite. Previous Icon Series releases featuring musicians, athletes, and streamers have often generated similar discussions, with players scrutinizing how closely Epic recreates real-world celebrities.
Even with the mixed reception, excitement surrounding Olivia Rodrigo’s arrival remains high, and the collaboration is to become one of the game’s most talked-about celebrity crossovers.
As more players get their hands on the skin in-game, opinions may shift once fans can see the model outside of the reveal trailer inside the game.
