Today is Fortnite update day, and not just any update, the first major update of Chapter 3 Season 4. It’s an exciting time for any fan, but unfortunately, things are a bit pear-shaped right now, as the servers have been down for almost 12 hours now. We’ll let you know why Fortnite is down, and when it’s expected to go live again with the new patch.
In the meantime, make sure you’re up to date with the Fortnite weekly challenges with the Zero Week quests and the Week 2 challenges.
Why are Fortnite servers down?
The Fortnite servers were scheduled to go down at 1am PST/4am EST/9am BST on October 4, however, the Fortnite status Twitter account announced at 2pm PST/5pm EST/10pm BST on October 3 that the servers would be going early due to “an issue”. Exactly what this issue is, or how it affects today’s update is unclear, the same Tweet promises that the patch will still be going live on October 4.
When will Fortnite be back up?
Typically, when everything is running smoothly, the Fortnite servers are only down for a couple of hours for each update. In this case, the servers normally come back online around 3am PST/6am EST/11am BST. However, we don’t know how big the issue that caused the early downtime is so it may be significantly longer this time around.
Fortnite status on Twitter is the best place to keep an eye on, as they will post as soon as the servers come back online. Also, make sure to check back here when they do, as we’ll have a full rundown of the Fortnite patch notes for update 22.10.
