Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4: 5 biggest changes

It’s been a long and winding road to get here, but Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4: Paradise is finally upon us. Unfortunately, it brings with it the deadly and seemingly unstoppable Chrome, which is now plaguing the map and assimilating everything it touches. As always, such a momentous occasion has led to huge changes on the Fortnite map, with some locations changing, new ones appearing, and new stuff to find inside.

We’ll take you through all the biggest changes made to Fortnite this season so you know where to look and what to do when you drop into your first match.

Chrome Splash - Fortnite

First up is one of the coolest utility items the game has ever seen called the Chrome Splash. This harnesses the power of this season’s inanimate villain to tear down enemy defences or power yourself up. If you throw this item at a wall then you will be able to pass through it without destroying it. However, if you throw it at your feet, you will become coated in Chrome for a little while. This makes you immune to fire, and if you sprint you’ll become an amorphous blob that is immune to fall damage and moves faster than normal.

Herald’s Sanctum - Fortnite

While Chrome is a terrifying thing in its own right, there is something controlling it, a boss known as The Herald. This creature has created a new location where Sanctuary used to be. The surrounding area is covered in Chrome, and Sanctuary itself has been turned into a fortress. You’ll be able to fight The Herald inside as a boss encounter, it has 600 health and 600 shield, so approach with caution.

Cloudy Condos - Fortnite

If Chrome assimilates everything it touches, then clearly the best way to keep yourself safe is to eternally float above everything. The residents of Condo Canyon realised this and decided to attach all of their houses to balloons. This area, now known as Cloudy Condos, can be accessed by launch pads around the perimeter.

EvoChrome Shotgun and EvoChrome Burst Rifle - Fortnite

What good is an impending apocalypse if you weaponise it in some way? These two weapons can be found in the new Chrome chests scattered around the world, and have some unique properties. These weapons will get more powerful as you get kills with them. They will increase in tier, all the way from Uncommon to Mythic, increasing stats like damage, rate of fire, and recoil as they improve.

Vaults and Keys - Fortnite

As you loot your way across the island now, you may come across some mysterious keys. These are the way to unlock the new vaults that have appeared on the island. Low-security vaults require one key to open and high-security vaults need two. Once you’ve picked up a key, keyhole symbols will appear on the map to indicate the locations of vaults.

You can read the full rundown of everything included in this Fortnite update on the game’s official news page.
