Forspoken, the new RPG from Luminous Productions, isn’t coming out this spring anymore.
On Monday, Luminous Productions announced that Forspoken will not come out until Oct. 11, 2022, five months after the original spring date.
“Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us,” Luminous Productions said on Twitter. “To that end, during the next few months, we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game can wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.”

The statement indeed suggests technical issues might be the reason for Forspoken’s delay, though all we can do is speculate without any concrete details. Given that the game is only on PS5 and PC, one would hope that the extra horsepower will eventually smooth any performance issues out.
While Forspoken is technically the debut effort from Luminous productions, the studio was primarily responsible for Final Fantasy 15. Star Wars Rogue One writer Gary Whitta also came up with much of Forspoken’s world and characters.
