
A former executive at Yoozoo Games has been sentenced to death for the poisoning of the company's founder, Lin Qi, in December 2020. The Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court revealed that Xu Yao poisoned Lin's food due to a dispute over the management of the business. Lin, aged 39, tragically passed away about 10 days after the poisoning incident. Xu was apprehended by the police shortly after Lin's death.
Additionally, four other individuals fell ill but survived after Xu poisoned beverages in the office between September and December 2020. The court disclosed that these actions were motivated by disputes Xu had with two of the affected individuals.
Yoozoo Games, also known as Youzu Interactive, holds the film rights to the popular Chinese science fiction trilogy, “The Three-Body Problem.” Xu was in charge of a subsidiary responsible for business related to this trilogy. In September 2020, the company granted Netflix the rights to produce an adaptation of the trilogy, as reported by Chinese state media.
Furthermore, Yoozoo Games developed the game “Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming,” which is based on the renowned TV series. The company's association with high-profile projects like “The Three-Body Problem” and “Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming” has garnered significant attention in the gaming and entertainment industries.
