Former World Darts Champion Ted Hankey has been charged with the sexual assault of a woman.
Hankey, 54, has been charged with a sexual assault in relation to an incident alleged to have taken place September 2021. The charges relate to a matter said to have taken place in Cheshire.
The CPS made the decision to charge the 54-year-old after reviewing a file of evidence from Cheshire Constabulary. Hankey, of Wendover Grove, Berry Hill, Stoke-on-Trent, has been released on bail and will appear before Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 6.

Hankey is a former two-time BDO World Professional Darts Champion having won the competition in 2000 and 2009. Nicknamed 'The Count' he picked up 16 titles during his playing career.
The 54-year-old started competing in the PDC format from 2012-13. He reached the Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finals twice and was a three-time World Masters semi-finalist.
Hankey recently withdrew from the 2022 World Seniors Darts Championships which took place in February. He was due to appear in a line-up that included the likes of Phil Taylor.
