A beloved town centre pub which closed suddenly last month has reopened to customers. JD Wetherspoon called time on The Robert Peel, in Bury, without warning on March 27.
It led to an outpouring of shock as the Market Place pub closed its doors - with no reason given for Wetherspoons' departure. Earlier this week, the Manchester Evening News revealed that a new pub operator was in talks to take over the popular venue.
Now, customers are able to return to The Robert Peel. The pub opened its doors once again earlier this afternoon (April 6).

Posters were placed in the pub's windows before opening, telling customers: "Guess who's back!" A food menu with similar options as before is available, with breakfast and themed meal deals also being advertised.
It will come as a relief to Bury residents who were left gutted when the much-loved pub closed its doors in March. One M.E.N. reader commented: "No way! Where are all the youth going to start their night off now then?"
A spokesperson for JD Wetherspoon confirmed last month that staff would not be made redundant, and alternative roles would be offered at other pubs in the chain. The Art Picture House, on Haymarket Street, remains open as a Wetherspoons pub.
The building which is home to The Robert Peel - 5-10 Market Place - was put on the market last year as a pub with office facilities above. The pub, named after the former MP and mill owner Sir Robert Peel whose statue stands just metres away, first opened its doors in 1997 and was refurbished in the 2000s.
