Pence stated that he did not support the notion of removing Trump from the ballot, as he believed that decision should be left up to the voters. He pointed out that the events of January 6th, which unfolded at the U.S. Capitol, should not be categorized as an insurrection. Pence was present during the incident and described it as a riot rather than an organized attempt to overthrow the government.
