Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Taiwan next week and meet President Tsai Ing-wen, the Taiwan government said on Monday.

Pompeo, who riled China while in office by criticising the ruling Communist Party and working to increase US engagement with the self-ruled island, was the top diplomat under former President Donald Trump from 2018 until January last year.
