Former TOWIE stars Samantha and Billie Faiers' mum Suzie rushed to hospital after water infection turns to sepsis

Sisters Samantha and Billie Faiers have shared how their mum was hospitalized after a water infection turned to sepsis. The reality stars, who shot to fame on ITVBe's The Only Way is Essex opened up about the family's terrifying scare on the latest episode of their podcast.

Sam, 31, and Billie, 32, explained that Suzie, who will be familiar to viewers having appeared on their shows Mummy Diaries and Family Diaries, began to “massively” deteriorate when a water infection spread to her kidneys. They shared how the spread of the infection resulted in a dash to A and E where the 53-year-old was told she had contracted sepsis.

Billie revealed on their podcast, The Sam & Billie Show: "I’ve had a bit of a week." She went on to explain: "Our mum wasn’t very well. It started last week, she had a water infection and it got worse and worse which resulted in going into mum’s kidneys. So we took her to A&E because she massively deteriorated."

She went on: "She had antibiotics and it wasn’t working. I managed to speak to a doctor and I told him all of her symptoms so he told me to take her to A+E because she needs medical attention. Basically, the water infection had got so bad that it turned into sepsis." Billie, who is currently pregnant with her third child, added that Suzie was “so poorly”, adding: "She was so unwell. Feverish, being sick, weak, pains in her back and delirious."

According to the NHS, Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection. They say it happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body's own tissues and organs. The NHS adds that there are lots of possible symptoms which can be like symptoms of other conditions, including flu or a chest infection.

Sam, who recently welcomed her third child, Edward, then shared how her and her sister suffered sheer panic as they were left to make the decision to get their mum to the hospital. "As her daughters we had to make the decision. We couldn’t even have another night at home," she said. "She needed to go in."

Thankfully, the pair told their listeners that Suzie is now back home and is "doing really well." Billie said: "She recovered so well. Mum was in hospital for about 15 hours in total and they flushed her system through. She’s on the mend which is really good."

Billie is currently preparing to welcome her first child with husband Greg Shepherd. The couple, who already share daughter Nelly, eight, and son Arthur, five, announced the happy news they were expanding their brood while on holiday earlier this year. Billie's announcement came shortly after her sister welcomed her baby son into the world.

Announcing the happy news of baby Edward's arrival her 2.5 million Instagram followers, the ex-The Mummy Diaries star shared a sweet photo video featuring fireworks and glimpses of Sam during her water birth. "My whole world," she wrote alongside a blue heart.

"No words can describe how in love we are with you baby boy. I honestly can’t explain my feelings right now. Mummy loves you more than you could ever imagine."
