Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has claimed that he would rather Arsenal sign Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham over England captain Harry Kane. It comes as the Gunners have been linked with a switch for Bellingham, who continues to impress.
The 19-year-old would fit the transfer strategy laid out by the club in recent years, where young players are signed to develop into top talents. That has begun to pay off as the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe have all progressed to the point where the side have managed to sit top of the league at the break for the World Cup.
"We have a plan really in place, so we are probably in the middle of our project," sporting director Edu Gaspar told Sky Sports in the summer. "We need to keep improving the quality in the squad. We have to make important decisions to make our squad better every year, so we have to improve, improve and improve."
