Thailand's former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been indicted on lese majeste charges, marking a significant development in the country's political landscape. The charges stem from an interview Thaksin gave to a South Korean newspaper in 2015, where he allegedly violated Thailand's strict royal insult law.
The announcement of the indictment was made by a spokesperson for the attorney general, stating that Thaksin will need to appear before the Office of the Attorney General on June 18 to face the charges. However, Thaksin was unable to attend the hearing due to a Covid-19 infection.
