Former Swansea City player Len Johnrose has died aged 52 following a battle with motor neurone disease.
The versatile defensive midfielder played for a host of sides during his career, including hometown club Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Hartlepool United, Bury and Burnley. Johnrose joined Swansea in January 2003 and swiftly established himself as a key figure at the Vetch Field.
He played a prominent role as Swansea preserved their Football League status in dramatic fashion by beating Hull City 4-2 on the final day of the 2002/03 season, with Johnrose netting to add to a famous hat-trick from James Thomas.
He made a total of 44 appearances for the Swans before re-joining Burnley prior to the conclusion of the 2003/04 campaign.
Johnrose was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in March 2017 and recently opened up on his struggles with the rare condition.
But on Monday, August 15, it was confirmed that the former Swan had tragically passed away.
