A former Strictly Come Dancing star has claimed that some of the professional dancers have been forced to pretend they are happy with their celebrity partner.
DJ Scott Mills has revealed that things are not always what they seem when the Strictly professional dancers find out who they are partnered with on the show.
The hit BBC One dancing competition is set to return to our screens on Saturday, September 17, where the launch show will reveal who is paired up for the live shows that commence the following week.
The full line-up of 15 celebrities was finally unveiled on August 13 with the likes of Kym Marsh, Ellie Simmonds, Tony Adams, Matt Goss and Helen Skelton taking to the ballroom floor.
And Scott, who was part of the 2014 series alongside Joanne Clifton, opened up about the realities of the relationships between the dancers and their celebrity partners.
Speaking on Radio 5 Live, he said: "On my series there were some dancers who weren’t happy with their celebrities. But it was never seen on screen."
Scott's former co-host Chris Stark was also convinced that many of the reactions were not what they seemed.
He said: "One of the things that gets me is when the contestant meets the dancer for the first time and they both have to pretend that they would have chosen each other.
"The chances that every contestant has been linked with exactly the right dancer and that dancer has been linked with exactly the right contestant is mind-boggling. You have got more chance of winning the lottery.
"It’s the lying, going, 'You are exactly who I wanted'."
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will return as the flagship Saturday night show's hosts while Anton du Beke will rejoin the judges' panel permanently alongside head judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse.
In August, Scott presented his final show on Radio 1 after 24 years of service after he announced he was switching over to Radio 2 to replace Steve Wright.
Chris, who co-hosted alongside Scott for the last 10 years at Radio 1, left the BBC last month to join as Creative Executive Producer and presenter on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp.
He also takes up a new role in Global’s growing podcast division, with the remit of developing sport content for Global Player.
