The Baltimore Ravens announced on Wednesday that offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva has retired after seven NFL seasons. Villanueva spent six of his seven NFL seasons as the starting left tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Villaneuva’s journey to the NFL will make a great movie of the week someday. After playing offensive line, defensive line and wide receiver at Army, Villanueva graduated and went on to serve six years in the US Army and won multiple commendations.
Villanueva’s NFL career began in 2014. He became a starter with the Steelers in 2015 and started 10 games that year. He went on to start every one of his NFL games over the next six years and retires with 107 regular-season starts.
