City officials cite public health and safety concerns due to the area's escalating crime and homelessness issues. Despite more than 5,000 signatures on a petition to halt the removal, the city remained steadfast in its decision. However, the City of Seattle has expressed its commitment to finding an alternative location for the garden.
Former Washington state congressman and King County Sheriff, Dave Reichert, has emerged as a candidate for the upcoming Washington gubernatorial election. While his endeavor to flip Washington state from blue to red may seem daunting, Reichert believes he has a genuine chance. Political pundits have already labeled the race as a battleground contest since Reichert entered the race in mid-July. Recent polls even show him leading the leading Democratic candidate by two points. Additionally, Reichert boasts an impressive track record, having won seven congressional races and two races for sheriff in the highly competitive west side of Washington.
