Former Rockstar Games Employees Reveal Unreleased GTA Titles And Expansions

Former Rockstar employees reveal all on unreleased GTA games that never made it

Former Rockstar Games employees have shed light on several Grand Theft Auto titles and expansions that never materialized despite being in development or remaining as concepts. The anticipation for the upcoming GTA 6, set to launch in Autumn 2025, has fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of the iconic series.

Over the years, Rockstar Games had numerous potential directions they could have taken the series, as revealed by former employees. Some of the projects that never came to fruition include GTA 2: Berlin, GTA Online Crime World, GTA Tokyo, GTA Bogota, and GTA Sin City.

GTA 2: Berlin was planned as an expansion set in the 80s before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The concept included underground rides through Berlin and visits to iconic landmarks, but it was met with resistance from Rockstar employees.

GTA Online Crime World was considered before the success of GTA Online, with plans for a multiplayer title dating back to 1999. However, the merger that would have facilitated this project did not progress, leading to its cancellation.

Prior to the release of GTA San Andreas, Take-Two filed trademarks for potential titles like GTA Tokyo, GTA Sin City, and GTA Bogota. GTA Tokyo was particularly intriguing due to Rockstar's interest in the city's scene, but logistical challenges prevented its development.

As GTA 6 is poised to conclude the HD trilogy of games in the series, fans are curious about Rockstar's future plans for Grand Theft Auto. With a rich history of unrealized projects, the possibilities for the franchise remain vast and exciting.
