Former Motherwell and Rangers winger Jamie Murphy has left Hibs to joined English League Two side Mansfield Town on loan.
The 32-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Fir Park, made a deadline day move south last night and the Hibees confirmed he has likely played his last game for the capital side, with his contract at Easter Road expiring at the end of the season.
It's not Murphy's first foray to England after he swapped Motherwell for Sheffield United in 2013, before joining Brighton two years later.
He eventually made his return home in 2018 to join boyhood heroes Rangers. He made a loan spell at Hibs permnanent last season and has made 50 appearances for the Leith side in total.
He now links up with old boss Nigel Clough at Mansfield Town, having played under him at Burton Albion and Sheffield United.
Stags’ boss Nigel Clough said: “Jamie is another player who we’ve worked with before and who we hold in very high regard.
"He’s the sort of player who can turn a game in an instant and will supplement our striking options.
“He can play wide or up in the middle in an attacking role, equally effective.
“We’re very excited he’s coming to Mansfield.”
A statement from Hibs read: "The 32-year-old winger will link up with Nigel Clough’s side for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign, which will see his time at Hibernian FC come to an end as his contract expires at the end of the current season.
"We’d like to thank ‘Murph’ for all his efforts and wish him the best in the future."
