Former Rangers star, Hibs and Manchester City talent involved in three-way transfer deadline day scenario

Former Motherwell and Rangers winger Jamie Murphy could be heading back down south as Hibs wait on a deal with Manchester City for Morgan Rogers.

The English Premier League giants are set to recall the talented winger from a loan at Bournemouth and Hibees head coach Shaun Maloney is keen on signing him.

It would be on a loan basis but the deadline day clock is rapidly ticking down.

If Manchester City sanction the loan, it would open up an opportunity for Murphy to return south of the border in League Two with Mansfield, according to the BBC.

Now 32, Murphy first moved south in 2013 after swapping Motherwell for Sheffield United. He then moved to Brighton before a 2018 switch to boyhood heroes Rangers.

His move to Ibrox was blighted by injury and Murphy left Rangers for Hibs last year. But he could now be set to depart Easter Road on loan for the promotion-chasing fourth-tier club.

The winger made 212 'Well appearances and scored 49 times during his spell in claret and amber. He is the Steelmen's record European goalscorer.
