Former Rangers star Greg Stewart nets Mumbai City hat-trick and earns 'magic Scotsman' tag

Greg Stewart claimed the match ball as the attacker netted a hat-trick for Mumbai City to earn a 'magic Scotsman' tag.

The former Rangers, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock star continues to impress in the ISL and has since moved on from his days with now Queen's Park boss Owen Coyle at Jamshedpur. His form and consistency earned him a big move and he's continued where he left off as he fired his side to an extra-time win following an eight-goal thriller in the Durand Cup.

Stewart's treble has helped Mumbai reach the last four of the competition after overcoming Chennaiyin FC in the quarter-final stage. They will now face Mohammedan Sporting on September 14 at the VYBK as Des Buckingham’s side eye a spot in the final.

The former Rangers attacker - signed by the Ibrox men back in 2019 under Steven Gerrard - became the first player to score a hat-trick at the 2022 Durand Cup during the 120 minutes of pulsating action.

It takes his tally to six goals in his last five outings with a big semi-final tie to come on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old is no stranger to Scottish football fans with spells at Cowdenbeath, Dundee, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Rangers.

He also played south of the border at Birmingham City.
