Former Rangers ace 'in the frame' to land Championship job

Former Rangers ace Gregory Vignal is reportedly in the frame to become the new manager of QPR.

The R's are said to be weighing up a move for the Frenchman with pressure mounting on current Loftus Road boss Marti Cifuentes.

QPR are currently bottom of the Championship, five points adrift from safety.

The London outfit last won a game 12 matches ago, with seven defeats in that time.

The Daily Record reports that if Cifuentes is bagged, then former Gers defender Vignal is on the shortlist of potential managerial targets.

The report states that after watching the job that Regis Le Bris - plucked from obscurity - has carried out at Sunderland, QPR chiefs are hopeful Vignal could perform a similar rescue mission.

Vignal is currently out of work after his most recent job at French third-tier side Versailles.

He had his UEFA Pro Licence and has previous experience of managing Rangers' Under-18s side.

QPR chairman, Lee Hoos, signed Vignal as a player for Southampton in 2006, where he was chief executive.
