A former Qatari princess has been found dead from a suspected drug overdose at her home.
Kasia Gallanio was discovered dead by Spanish police this Sunday, according to French newspaper Le Parisien.
The body of the 45-year-old former wife of Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani, 73, the uncle of the Emir of Qatar, was found at her home in Marbella.
She married the Qatari royal back in 2004 and they had three daughters together.
However, the two fought a bitter custody battle for 10 years after allegations emerged that he sexually assaulted their eldest child.
He has always denied these allegations.
After Gallanio was denied custody of her three children they lived with their father, on the luxury Avenue Montaigne in Paris.
Gallanio, born in Los Angeles and of Polish origin, had been staying in one of the couple’s numerous homes at the time.
She was dealing with depression as well as alcohol issues.
A post mortem is yet to take place but initial investigations suggest she died of a drug overdose, it is reported.
The French paper also reported that there were no signs of physical violence.
Her former husband has lived in France since 1992 when he was forced into exile over an alleged coup against the leader of Qatar.
