Former President Trump is set to visit the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina as part of a series of campaign stops across the battleground state on Monday. The visit aims to allow Trump to witness the devastation caused by the hurricane firsthand.
According to a press release from the campaign, Trump will deliver remarks to the press in Asheville at noon and is scheduled to make another stop in Greenville, North Carolina. Later in the evening, he will attend an '11th Hour Faith Leaders Meeting' with Eric Trump and Ben Carson in Concord, North Carolina.
This visit is one of several campaign stops by Trump in North Carolina since Hurricane Helene struck, impacting mostly red counties that supported Trump in the previous election cycle. The state's 16 electoral votes are expected to play a crucial role in the 2024 presidential election.
Vice President Kamala Harris will also be active on the campaign trail, making stops in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin on Monday. Harris previously visited North Carolina after the hurricane, participating in relief efforts such as providing aid supplies to victims.
President Biden has been working on bipartisan efforts to deliver disaster relief to states affected by Hurricane Helene. He visited North Carolina and ordered an additional 500 active-duty troops to assist in the western counties of the state.
The North Carolina Elections Board recently passed a bipartisan emergency resolution to reform the state's early voting process in 13 counties. The changes include modifying voting sites, extending hours of operation, and adjusting the number of days sites are open during the early voting period.
