An individual detained in connection with an alleged assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump reportedly attempted to recruit individuals to fight in Ukraine through unofficial means, despite warnings from the International Legion in the country. According to a former recruiter for the military unit, the detainee exhibited 'delusions of grandeur' and disregarded official recruitment channels.

Evelyn Aschenbrenner, an American citizen who served in the International Legion in Ukraine, revealed that they repeatedly advised the detainee, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, to utilize official routes for recruiting individuals to fight in Ukraine. Aschenbrenner, who worked in an administrative and recruiting capacity within the International Legion, expressed frustration when Routh posted their contact information on a website without permission.

Despite warnings about the security risks and the need to adhere to the chain of command in a military setting, Routh persisted in attempting to bring individuals across the border into Ukraine. Aschenbrenner highlighted the dangers of operating in an active war zone and emphasized the importance of following established protocols.

Routh's insistence on pursuing his own recruitment methods and his apparent belief that he was the sole savior of Ukraine raised concerns among those familiar with his actions. Aschenbrenner noted that Routh's behavior reflected a pattern observed in some volunteers who overestimated their role and impact in conflict zones.

Aschenbrenner clarified that they never encountered Routh in Ukraine, whether in combat zones or military bases. The detainee's actions and attitude towards recruitment efforts underscored the challenges faced by organizations like the International Legion in managing volunteers and ensuring compliance with established procedures.
