
Congressional leadership revealed on Monday that former President Jimmy Carter will be honored with a lying in state ceremony at the US Capitol in Washington, DC. The ceremony is scheduled to take place from January 7 to January 9, allowing the public an opportunity to pay their respects to the late President.
In a letter addressed to Carter's son, James Carter III, and the Carter Center, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader-elect John Thune, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries extended the invitation for the public to visit the Capitol during designated times to honor President Carter.
