Today’s news regarding Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson could mean at least one of two things for the Carolina Panthers—they were right for trading him and/or their pass catchers are going to have a really, really tough time this weekend.
On Wednesday, the Ravens announced a one-game suspension for Johnson—who did not appear in their Week 13 loss. A statement by general manager Eric DeCosta noted that the “difficult decision” stemmed from the former Pro Bowler’s refusal to enter the game against the Philadelphia Eagles—the Panthers’ opponent for this Sunday.

This latest development between Johnson and the Ravens may not come as too much of a surprise to those who heard what head coach Jim Harbaugh said about the situation on Monday.
“I’m gonna to have to wait,” he stated of Johnson. “There’s some moving parts there that we’re gonna have to figure out and explore and just see where we’re at. It’s the best I can do, in fairness to everybody.”
The Panthers traded Johnson to the Ravens on Oct. 29, in a deal involving a late-round pick swap for the 2025 NFL draft.
Since then, he’s recorded only one reception (of five yards) and 39 offensive snaps over four games. He did not, obviously, record a snap in Sunday’s defeat to the Eagles.
