Former Panthers DT Bravvion Roy claimed by Bears

It didn’t take long for Bravvion Roy to find a new home. In fact, that new home already has some of his old friends.

After being waived by the Carolina Panthers on Monday to make room for defensive lineman LaBryan Ray, Roy officially landed with the Chicago Bears late this afternoon. He joins his former Panthers teammates in wide receiver DJ Moore, quarterback PJ Walker and running back D’Onta Foreman.

Before coming to Carolina, Roy played his college ball at Baylor University from 2016 to 2019. As a (Baylor) Bear, he amassed 133 total tackles (19.0 for a loss), 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 42 games.

The 6-foot-1, 330-pounder was then selected by the Panthers and head coach Matt Rhule (also Roy’s head coach at Baylor) in the sixth-round of the 2020 NFL draft. He went on to play in 45 games over three seasons for Carolina—totaling 76 tackles, a sack, eight quarterback hits and an interception.
