Wide receiver Grant DuBose, who was released by the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday, got claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.
Instead of returning to the Packers on the practice squad, DuBose is off to the 53-man roster in Miami.
DuBose, a seventh-round pick of the Packers in the 2023 draft, had a strong summer but got squeezed out of a roster spot in a deep receiver group in Green Bay. The Packers kept Bo Melton and Malik Heath behind Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.
DuBose, the 258th overall pick in 2023, caught five of nine targets for 66 yards during the preseason in 2024.
The Dolphins kept only four receivers on the first 53-man roster: Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Berrios and Malik Washington. As the fifth receiver, DuBose will have a legitimate chance to develop and play in Miami — an opportunity he might not have gotten in Green Bay.
DuBose spent the 2023 season on the Packers practice squad. He was praised for both clutch catches — including a conversion on fourth down and a diving catch in the two-minute drill — and his run blocking following the Packers’ win in the preseason opener in Cleveland.
