Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Cafu has joined Rotherham United on a one-year deal.
The 30-year-old was released at the end of last season after playing just six minutes of Premier League football when he came off the bench in the opening home game against West Ham.
He missed out on a place in Forest's 25-man squad after it was confirmed and was then exiled from the first team set-up.

However, the midfielder was a popular and respected player under Steve Cooper as he remained professional throughout.
Cafu spent almost three years at Forest after joining on an initial year-long deal from Olympiacos in 2020 after playing 13 times in European football for the Greek champions.
The Portugal youth international played 73 times in total for the Reds, scoring one goal in a 4-1 win at Swansea in Forest's promotion winning season, in which he played 20 times.
Cafu was released alongside Jesse Lingard, Jordan Smith, Andre Ayew, Lyle Taylor and Jack Colback after Forest had confirmed their place in the Premier League for the coming season.
