Former Nottingham Forest man Matty Cash has taken to social media to give his verdict on the Reds’ first half performance against Barnsley.
Forest went into the game against the bottom club looking to extend a winning run to four straight games following victories over Arsenal, Millwall and Derby County.
Things got off to the perfect start for Steve Cooper’ s men as the Tykes visit the City Ground with Keinan Davis opening his account for the club after 15 minutes.
The striker is on loan until the end of the season, from Cash’s club Aston Villa.
Forest doubled their lead seven minutes before the half-time whistle through Ryan Yates to give Cooper’s men a stronghold on the game going into the half-time break.
Keeping a close eye on his former club, Cash delivered a seven word verdict on Forest’s performance in the first half.
“Forest boys on fire,” he wrote. “Lovely to see.”
A win for Forest would see them move to within one point of the Championship play-off places ahead of the weekend’s game against Cardiff City.
His message went down well with Forest fans, who were quick to reply.
“Absolutely smashing it Cashy. Lovely to see you still supporting us,” wrote one supporter, while a second said: “Lovely to see you're still keeping an eye on our progress too Matty.”
“You’ll always be a red to us Cashy,” a third added.
Cash came up through the youth team at the City Ground, playing a total of 141 games in a Forest shirt before completing a transfer to Aston Villa in the summer of 2020.
