Former Newcastle United skipper Geremi thinks Newcastle have taken a risk by signing Brazilian international Bruno Guimaraes.
The Magpies splashed the cash to lure the £40million man from Lyon to Tyneside, despite the midfielder attracting interest from Arsenal and Juventus.
Guimaraes arrived in Newcastle on Friday and could be in line to make his debut against Everton at St James’ park on Tuesday night.

However, Geremi - who captained the Magpies for half a season under Sam Allardyce in 2007/08 - believes the move is a gamble.
“Newcastle did well bringing in Premier League-proven players like Trippier, Burn, Wood and Targett,” he told Genting Casino.
“They understand the league and can find their feet straight away in a relegation fight, so that is very smart.
“The one which is interesting is Bruno.
“It is a gamble but very much an exciting talent. With their money, I think they can afford one risky signing given the other players are so experienced.
“I hope he can play a part in keeping them up.”
The ex-Cameroon international did admit that Newcastle still holds a place in his heart and he is rooting for Eddie Howe’s men to survive relegation to the Championship.
Geremi was part of the squad that was relegated in 2008/09 but does not want to see the club suffer a similar fate this season.
He added: “The club means a lot to me and this situation is concerning.

“It’s sad to see Newcastle in the relegation zone. The fans are amazing and don’t deserve that, so the players have to do everything for them.
“If they stay in the Premier League it will be easier to sign big names.”
